Telangana: Farmers urge government to announce sugarcane prices, similar to provisions in Haryana and Punjab

The Telangana Rythu Sangam will organise a state-level meeting for sugarcane growers in Nelakondapally on November 23 to formulate a future action plan for addressing their concerns. The Sangam’s state general secretary, T. Sagar, released a publicity poster on Friday regarding the same.

He called on the state government to implement a state advisory price for sugarcane, similar to the system in place in Haryana and Punjab, reported Deccan Chronicle.

In India, both Haryana and Punjab are known for providing the best sugarcane rates to farmers.

Sagar warned that a statewide agitation would be launched if both the Centre and state government fail to address the issues faced by sugarcane farmers.
