Jagtial: Sugarcane farmers in Jagtial are rallying for the State government to reopen the Muthyampet sugar factory. They are steadfast in their demand for assurance and clear commitment from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao regarding the factory’s reopening, a matter they hope to see addressed during the scheduled public meeting in Korutla on Friday, reported The New Indian Express.
In an urgent meeting at the Ibrahimpatnam mandal headquarters on Thursday, a contingent of farmers, under the leadership of Mamidi Narayana Reddy, expressed their concerns on the issue. Narayana Reddy underscored that the BRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) had failed to honor its promise to restart the factory following the formation of Telangana. The factory’s closure in December 2015 has led to a significant decline in sugarcane cultivation in the region, causing logistical hardships for the transportation of sugarcane to factories in other districts. This, in turn, has adversely impacted both the farmers and associated laborers.
