Tereos to increase sugar production in Brazil in new season

France’s food and energy company, Tereos, has made substantial investments in recent months to increase its sugar production in Brazil for the upcoming season commencing in April. Despite anticipating a decline in the overall sugarcane yield in the Centre-South region of the country, Tereos remains optimistic about its strategic initiatives.

As per news report published in Reuters, Pierre Santoul, the head of Tereos’ Brazil unit, stated that the company envisages a production target of 2 million metric tons of sugar in Brazil for the 2024/25 season, a notable increase from the 1.9 million tons recorded in the previous year. This augmentation is set to raise the proportion of Tereos’ total cane allocation for sugar production to 70%, up from the previous figure of 67%.
