Bihar is positioning itself as a key player in the ethanol industry, with plans to significantly boost its production capacity.
The state, one of the largest maize producers in India, is witnessing more farmers shift to maize cultivation due to its higher market prices, which are currently better than the government-set minimum support price (MSP).
To attract investments and further enhance its position in the sector, the state government is organizing the ‘Bihar Business Connect’ Summit on December 19-20.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary emphasized the importance of establishing more ethanol plants in the state. He said, “There is a need to set up more ethanol plants in Bihar… This is essential for the farmers growing maize, rice, and other cereals, as we will be able to sell them directly to the ethanol plants, and it will also ensure availability of funds.”
In a recent podcast interview with PTI, Choudhary outlined the state government’s efforts to improve Bihar’s image and attract investments. He emphasized the focus on creating employment opportunities and driving higher economic growth in the state.
He invited both domestic and global corporates to visit Bihar, offering the government’s full support. “With the guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar is fully prepared to create a robust business ecosystem. Bihar is ready to stand with you, offering all the support needed for your success,” he added.
