TruAlt Bioenergy to build one of world’s largest Sustainable Aviation Fuel plants In India: Vijay Nirani

Vijay Nirani, Founder and MD of TruAlt Bioenergy, stated at the 10th edition of the Times Network India Economic Conclave that India will soon have one of the largest sustainable aviation fuel plants in the world. He highlighted that around 65% of the airline industry’s emissions are due to fuel consumption. Since it is not feasible to power planes with batteries or green hydrogen, alternative fuels, such as biofuels, are essential for cleaning the skies, reported Times Now.

TruAlt’s sustainable aviation fuel plant in India will utilize agricultural and other biomass waste to produce aviation biofuel. Nirani noted that while India has an abundance of these resources, the country currently imports 70-80% of the gas used for energy needs. In addition to the aviation fuel plant, TruAlt is planning to establish 17-18 Compressed Biogas plants across India.

Nirani expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its National Biofuel Policy, which enables companies like TruAlt to leverage India’s vast biofuel resources and help create a sustainable future for its farmers.

TruAlt Bioenergy is one of India’s largest biofuels producers, strategically positioned as a prominent and diversified player in the biofuels industry, particularly in the ethanol sector. The company holds the distinction of being the largest ethanol producer in India by installed capacity. Through its subsidiary, Leafiniti Bioenergy, TruAlt Bioenergy is one of the first producers of Compressed Biogas (CBG) under the Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) scheme, introduced by the Government of India in 2018.
