A Review meeting of the works of U.P. Sugarcane Research Council Shahjahanpur was held last wednesday in the meeting hall of Cane Commissioner office under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department, U.P. Sri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, During the review meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, expressed their anger over some employees of U.P. Council of Sugarcane Research Shahjahanpur for the continuous absent from their duties and lack of interest in the Government work. He said strict action should be taken against such personnel. Director UPCSR informed that the instructions of the Government are being followed and their services have been terminated by taking disciplinary action against two employees who were absent from a long time. One of the above was working at the Gola center of the council and second was working under the Shahjahanpur Institute.
In the review meeting of the Sugarcane Research Council, ACS Sri Bhoosreddy emphasized maximum use of bio product, in order to reduce the use of chemical in sugarcane farming and to promote environment-safe farming. He asked to the scientists that along with powder form, production of liquid Bio- products should also be started, so that the farmers should be able to use it easily. He instructed to increase the production of Trichoderma bio product for the management of red rot disease and Trichocard for the control of borer insects.
During reviewing the soil testing and distribution of soil health cards, the Additional Chief Secretary found that the progress of soil testing at Seorahi and Muzaffarnagar centers of the council is very slow. Expressing anger over the in-charge officers Seorahi and Muzaffarnagar, he instructed to increase the capacity of the soil testing laboratory and Soil health cards should also be distributed to more farmers by conducting soil tests. Shri Bhoosreddy directed the soil scientists to prepare a soil fertility map of all sugarcane growing districts in coordination with the Agriculture Department, so that according to the district wise fertilizers map, farmers can use fertilizers in a balanced form in sugarcane.
For the control of sugarcane borer insects, Shri Bhoosreddy gave special emphasis on the production of Trichocard and asked to prepare a detailed outline on the possibilities of its production at all the centers of the Council and instructed to train women self-help group about Trichocard production .Laying special emphasis on organic jaggery production and value addition, he said that training should be given to farmers in this regard so that farmers can develop entrepreneurship by getting trained.
Special Secretary U.P. Government, Dr. Rupesh Kumar, Director U.P. Sugarcane Research Council Shahjahanpur, Shri V.K. Shukla and the in-charge and scientists of all the centers were present in the review meeting.
