Chandigarh: The Punjab government is planning to set up two new sugar mills in the cooperative sector at Batala and Gurdaspur.
Cooperative minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the detailed project reports related to these projects have been prepared.
These sugar mills would benefit the sugarcane farmers and will increase the sugar output from the state, he said.
The state government is taking review of the pending cane dues which amounts to Rs 150 crore, he said. The outstanding dues will be soon cleared and the government is expecting release of Rs 60.31 crore from the central government for cane farmers, he said.
