Atiak sugar factory in Amuru district, Uganda has started operations after taking four years of construction. The operations of the mill have been however affected due to the shortage of sugarcane for crushing.
Amina Moghe Hersi, the proprietor of the mill said, “The factory is expected to have a daily crushing capacity of 1,650 metric tonnes of sugarcane with an expected future increase to about 3,500 metric tonnes.”
But as the factory started operations, it is facing a shortage of the cane for crushing.
