Ugandan investor shows interest to revive troubled Mumias Sugar Company

Investors have shown interest in reviving Mumias Sugar Company. The officials from the Greater Busoga Sugar Cane Growers Co-operative Union presented their proposal to Wycliffe Oparanya, Kakamega Governor.

Michael Mugabira, leader of the team, said that if granted opportunity, they are ready and willing to sink in billions in the company and cane development to resuscitate it.

“We are well aware of the problems faced by the mill as we deal with sugarcane farming in Uganda. We are ready to assist financially as well as provide technical support for the revival of the mill,” he said.

According to the media report, he said they prefer coming on board as shareholders if their proposal is accepted.
