The 15 sugar factories in Ukraine have produced 92,600 tonnes of sugar till October 1, 2020. The data has been published on the website of the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers. The factories have crushed 719,000 tonnes of sugar beets so far.
The sugar beet processing season in Ukraine began from September 5.
The sugar production in the country is projected at 1.2 million tonnes, which is 15 per cent less than the last year’s output. However, the area under sugar beet is the same this year as against last year that is 218,900 hectares. It is expected that 33 sugar factories will participate in the season.
