In the first seven months of the September-August season, Ukraine has reduced the export of white sugar to 3,04,600 tonnes, 10% of total export, national sugar producers union Ukrtsukor said.
According to the Union, due to a decrease in the sugar beet harvest, Ukraine’s white sugar production fell 15 per cent to 1.82 million tonnes in the 2018/19 season.
Ukraine’s export lowered in the year 2017-18 to 5,60,400 tonnes as against record 7,69,300 tonnes in the year 2016-17. Major importers of Ukraine’s white beet sugar are former Soviet republics.
Ukraine has taken up the sugar beet sowing and has completed seeding on 1,89,000 hectares out of targeted 2,20,000 hectares.
