Ukraine: Three sugar refineries operational in the Vinnytsia Region

Three of the five sugar refineries that had announced readiness to begin production are now operational in the Vinnytsia region, having already produced 21,000 tonnes of sugar. This was confirmed by the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration in a statement to a Ukrinform correspondent, reported Ukrinform.

“As of today, three sugar refineries are in operation. They have processed 170,000 tonnes of raw materials and produced 21,000 tonnes of sugar,” the administration reported.

By September 20, 2024, sugar beets had been harvested from 4,600 hectares in the region, representing over 7% of the total area planned for harvest. The average yield of sugar beets is currently 394 quintals per hectare, which is 83 quintals per hectare lower than last year’s figures.

As of September 13, 2024, sugar beets had been harvested from 16,200 hectares across Ukraine, with an average yield of 460 quintals per hectare. Fourteen sugar plants in eight regions of Ukraine have started processing operations.
