Union Cabinet approves Rs 2,187 crore for digital agriculture mission

The Union Cabinet approved an around Rs 14,000 crore allocation for seven major programs related to the agriculture sector. This includes a Rs 2,817-crore digital agriculture mission and a Rs 3,979-crore scheme for crop science.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced these decisions following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Cabinet also approved a Rs 2,291-crore program to enhance agricultural education and management. Additionally, a Rs 1,702-crore scheme was approved for sustainable livestock health and production.

Another significant initiative, a Rs 860-crore scheme, was approved for sustainable horticultural development.

Other Cabinet decisions include strengthening Krish Vigyan Kendra with Rs 1,202 crore and Natural Resource Management with Rs 1,115 crore.

In total, the allocation for these seven programs amounts to over Rs 13,960 crore.
