Raipur: Like other states, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has urged Chhattisgarh to promote ethanol production.
Addressing a gathering in the state after inaugurating several development projects, Gadkari said that his ministry is focusing on manufacturing ethanol to reduce the dependency on petrol. He urged the state government to focus on green fuel -ethanol production from sugarcane and paddy.
Minister said, “Farmers are now Annadata (food providers) and they can become ‘urjadata’ (energy providers).” He suggested the state to make second-generation ethanol from paddy straw.
On Wednesday, Gadkari met with Brazilian Energy Minister Bento Albuquerque in Delhi and emphasised on greater cooperation on the usage of Ethanol and reducing carbon emissions across various sectors to strengthen the economies of both the countries.
