Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chairs meeting with leaders of farmer bodies

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a meeting with leaders of several farmer organisations in the national capital on Tuesday.

During the meeting held at the Pusa Campus here, Chouhan stressed the importance of open dialogue as he delved on major topics like import-export regulations, dumping duties, and other factors related to farmers’ concerns.

Speaking to ANI after the meeting, Chouhan said, “Agriculture is the country’s backbone and the farmers are the soul. Serving the farmers is like worshipping God. I met leaders of the farmer’s association and they gave a lot of suggestions. We are working out those suggestions. Some of them are about crops, Fasal Bima Yojana and the loss of crops.”

“This ministry is yours. I believe in such a system in which we can meet easily to discuss any issues,” the Union Minister said.

Chouhan also encouraged farmers to share their suggestions and promised to work on them. “Whatever suggestions we have received immediately, whatever we can do, we will work on them,” the Minister said.

In a bid to facilitate open dialogue, Chouhan announced weekly meetings with farmer organisations to discuss issues in the sector.

“Agriculture is the country’s backbone and the farmers are the soul. Serving the farmers is like worshipping God…I met leaders of the farmer’s association and they gave a lot of suggestions. We are working out those suggestions. Some of them are about crops, Fasal Bima Yojana and the loss of crops…” Chouhan said after the meeting.

“We had decided a few days ago that every Tuesday we will meet and discuss with farmer organisations and farmer brothers and sisters. During this period, meaningful discussions were held on various topics. Also, the farmer friends praised the important decisions taken by the government in the direction of agriculture and farmer welfare. Farmer welfare is the top priority of the government led by the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. With coordinated and collective efforts, we will leave no stone unturned in the progress of farmers, we will move forward together. This sequence of dialogue will continue,” Chouhan said in a post on X.
