UP govt has paid cane dues of Rs 2 trillion to farmers in last five years: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stated that his government has paid cane dues worth Rs 2,13,400 crore to the cane farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT) since 2017, reports PTI.

He was speaking at a programme organised in Lucknow to distribute certificates to the State Sugarcane Production Competitions winners.
The cane dues used to remain pending for several years during the reign of other parties in the past but since our party came to power we have ensured to clear cane dues of farmers in time, he said.

Since we came to power we have taken the issue of pending cane dues on a priority basis and are working to clear cane dues pending from 2010 to 2017, said Yogi.

Sugar millers are requesting permission to start ethanol production so that they would be able to clear cane dues of farmers, he said.
