Lucknow: Following the central government’s policy to promote ethanol production, the sugar millers from Uttar Pradesh are encouraged to increase the capacity of ethanol production. This would help in reducing sugar glut.
According to the news report published in Financialexpress.com, in a letter to the state government, the sugar millers have said that backed by the Centre’s encouragement, members of the industry would be keen to make investments in the ethanol sector and have sought certain assurances that would further encourage the industry to invest.
To strengthen the financial condition of sugar mills and cut oil imports, the Government is emphasising on ethanol production. Earlier, Centre had urged the mills for diversion of excess sugarcane and sugar for the production of fuel Ethanol as a long term solution for addressing the problem of excess sugar stock.
