Lucknow: Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have cleared 100% cane payment of the last crushing season 2019-20. The mills have paid dues worth Rs 35,899 crore to the cane farmers.
Sugarcane Minister Suresh Rana has reviewed Cane Price Payment On which Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Bhoosreddy has informed that the entire Cane Price Payment of Rs. 35,898.85 crore due for the last crushing season-2019-20 has been made to the sugarcane farmers. Along with this about 61 per cent of the Cane Price Payment of current crushing season 2020-21 has also been paid to the farmers. During the meeting, officers were directed by the Hon’ble Minister to speed up the Cane Price Payment.
He took a review of the measures taken to protect cane farmers, department officials and the mill workers from coronavirus infection. The cane crushing season is about to end and only 50 sugar mills are now operating.
The instructions have been issued to all the district and regional-level departments and sugar mills to take preventive measures to protect farmers and officials from coronavirus pandemic.
