4th Annual Convention and Sugar Expo of North Indian Sugarcane & Sugar Technologists’ Association (NISSTA) is being jointly organized by NISSTA and NSI, Kanpur at National Sugar Institute, Kanpur on 29th & 30th May, 2019. It is expected that about 300 delegates from India and abroad shall be participate in the convention.
Dr. Ram Murti Singh, President, NISSTA informed that the convention will be inaugurated by Shri Vijay Goyal, Chairman of M/s Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd. Dr. Sushil Solomon, Vice-Chancellor,
CSA University of Agriculture & Technology and Dr. Bakshi Ram, Director, Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore shall also grace the inaugural function. On this occasion, Prof. R.C.
Srivastava (Founder Director of National Sugar Institute, Kanpur) memorial lecture will be delivered by Mr. Ross Broadfoot of Sugar Research Institute, Australia. Mr. Ahmed Vawada,
Executive Director (Sugar), United Sugar Company, Saudi Arab will deliver lecture on “Manufacturing Technology of Refined and Specialty Sugar”.
In addition to above, The Sugar Technologists from Sri Lanka, Kenya and Nepal will also present their research papers in the convention. During the two days convention discussions shall be carried out on all important issues related to sugar industry:
1. Sugarcane Agriculture Technology- Focus and Development,
2. Sugar Production and Process Development
3. Ethanol Production, Policy and Profitability,
4. Renewable Energy from Sugarcane and other Resources, Innovations in by-products Utilization for Value Additions, Effluent Management and Environmental issues.
During the inaugural function, Life Time Achievement Award, Young Scientist Award & NISSTA Fellowship Award and other awards shall be conferred to various scientists and other experts for their commendable work in Sugar & Allied Industry.
Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director, National Sugar Institute, Kanpur informed that this convention will give a chance to the students also to hear the views of eminent experts from India and abroad, which will help in upgrading their knowledge and personality development. Prof. Mohan further informed that more than 20 companies are participating in the sugar expo for displaying products and technologies relating to sugar and ethanol production, sugarcane agronomy and by-products utilization.
