Bareilly: The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has slapped a fine to a sugar mill in Moradabad for allegedly not meeting pollution-related parameters. According to the news report published in The Times Of India, UPPCB slapped Rs 3.16 crore fine. The board has also issued closure notice to the unit.
“We have slapped a penalty of Rs 3.16 crore on the sugar mill in Moradabad’s Balvara for flouting pollution-related parameters. We have also asked the mill management to shutdown the unit after a team of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) visited the mill a few months ago and had found some discrepancies. The effluent was voluntarily discharged by the unit in the open which may pollute Dela river”,
Ajay Sharma, UPPCB’s Moradabad regional officer was quoted as saying by The Times Of India.
