Lucknow: Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have cleared cane dues for crushing season 2019-20. The pending cane dues are one of the major issues that the sugarcane farmers continue to raise and launched agitations several times to press their demands
Giving detailed information, in this regard Commissioner cane & sugar Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, has told that the Department of Sugar Industry and Cane Development is committed to protect the interests of the sugarcane farmers. Sugar mills of the state have paid 100% cane price to farmers against the due cane price of Rs.35,898.85 crore for the crushing season 2019-20. Along with this around 63% payment has been done against the cane price payable for the crushing season 2020-21. During the tenure of the present Government a record payment of Rs.1,35,111 crore, including payment of previous crushing seasons has been made to the sugarcane farmers of the state till date.
