Lucknow: In a tragic incident on Monday, three individuals lost their lives in a tanker explosion at sugar mill located in the Ramkot police station area of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, reported Hindustan Times.
The explosion occurred during routine maintenance work, proving fatal for the workers present at the site, as reported by the local police.
Sitapur SDM (Sadar) Gyanendra Dwivedi stated that the blast transpired in a recently installed ethanol tank while undergoing maintenance procedures before being fully operational. The sheer force of the explosion resulted in the immediate demise of the workers, stated the police.
As per news report, when the tank apparently burst due to increase in pressure, its lid bounced off and hit the tin shed of the mill.
An official statement from Lucknow conveyed that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, acknowledging the severity of the accident, instructed the Sitapur district magistrate to promptly reach the location. The Chief Minister also expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the tragic event.
Sitapur DM Anuj Singh, addressing the media, said that the explosion took place in a newly set up ethanol tank during maintenance work before its proper functioning.
