Uttar Pradesh has become the leading ethanol producer state in the country by achieving 9.89 per cent blending with Petrol. As of July 12, the average blending level across the country was at 7.93 per cent.
With an aim to achieve the ethanol blending target set by the Central government, Uttar Pradesh has boosted its ethanol production. Recently government had advanced the ethanol blending target from 2030 to 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Karnataka is at the second spot by achieving 9.68 per cent blending followed by Maharashtra (9.59%), Bihar (9.47 per cent), Madhya Pradesh (8.87 per cent) and Andhra Pradesh (8.73 per cent).
According to the news report published in Financialexpress.com, Deepak Guptara, secretary general of the Uttar Pradesh Sugar Millers Association, said that the government’s support in removing procedural impediments to licensing in the expansion of new projects have led to an increase in ethanol supplies in the last two years.
