Saharanpur: The sugarcane area in the district has decreased by over 3,500 hectares. Last year, the district had 121,786 hectares of sugarcane, which has now reduced to 118,022 hectares, reported Live Hindustan.
Despite the increase in the number of sugar mills from six to eight since the last crushing season, the area under sugarcane cultivation has shrunk.
The latest sugarcane survey showed a decrease of 3,764 hectares in sugarcane acreage this year. This marks a 3.09% reduction from 121,786 hectares to 118,022 hectares.
