Hasanpur: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) held a panchayat at the local mandi committee complex on Monday afternoon to demand the expansion of the cooperative sugar mill’s capacity, the announcement of the sugarcane price for the current season, reported Live Hindustan.
Tehsil president Mahesh Thakur said that the cooperative sugar mill’s capacity has not been increased even after several years of the chief minister’s announcement. He also expressed anger over the delay in announcing the sugarcane price for the current season.
Thakur also said that contract workers at the cooperative sugar mill are not being paid the standard wages. He demanded that all the problems of farmers be resolved immediately.
The panchayat was chaired by Sagar Singh. Other speakers included Sanjeev Baliyan, Hariom Singh, Kale Singh, Titu Tyagi, Sita Arya, Mahavir Singh Chauhan, Mahendra Singh, and Dharmapal Singh.
