Amroha: BKU (Lokshakti) demands revival of sugar mill

Mandi Dhanaura: Farmers in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh held a panchayat on Tuesday to demand that the state government reopen the Amroha sugar mill, which was closed in 2012, reported Amar Ujala.

The panchayat was organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lokshakti), a farmers’ union. The union’s national secretary, Sumit Nagar, said that the BJP government had promised to reopen the mill when it came to power in 2017.

“The BJP government has not kept its promise,” Nagar said. “The mill’s closure has caused great hardship for farmers in the region.”
