Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded immediate payment of cane arrears around Rs 14,000 crore. The party also urged to hike sugarcane price up to Rs 450 per quintal.
Ajay Kumar Lallu, President of the UP Congress committee, said, “Yogi Government had promised voters to clear cane dues within 14 days. And in case of non-payment, interest on it. But nothing happened in this direction since the party came in power.”
“The farmers are reeling under a financial crisis due to non-payment of the bill. The government should take steps to ensure payment of pending cane arrears”, he further added.
