Basti, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane crushing season commenced in Uttar Pradesh, but cane growers claim many sugar mills failed to clear the cane dues of the previous season. The administration seems to be stern over pending cane dues.
According to the news report published in LiveHindustan.com, the sugar mills in the district are yet to pay cane dues of Rs 144 crore. DM reviewed the pending cane dues in the district. He asked mills to pay the arrears on a priority basis.
Sugar mills due to low sugar sales they are facing a financial crisis and are unable to pay the cane dues.
