Amroha, Uttar Pradesh: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) called for a united protest to demand a higher price for sugarcane, reported Live Hindustan.
BKU members convened a meeting on Thursday in Yakubgadi village to address the plight of sugarcane farmers. Tejveer Singh Aluna, the national spokesperson of BKU, stressed the urgency of uniting all farmer unions to resolve the issues of sugarcane farmers.
A key demand raised during the meeting was the fixation of a sugarcane price of 500 rupees per quintal. Cane growers claim that they are facing financial hardship due to unpaid cane dues.
