Bagpat: Farmers and workers gathered for a panchayat on Sunday in Budhsaini village, raising several key demands from the state government. The demands included ensuring pending sugarcane payments, declaring the sugarcane price at ₹450 per quintal, reported Amar Ujala.
Speaking at the panchayat, Annu Malik, National Vice President of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan , criticized the state government for neglecting farmers’ issues. “ Despite promises to clear sugarcane payments within 14 days, mills are not being pressured to fulfil their obligations,” he said.
Malik highlighted that while a new crushing season has begun, the government has yet to announce the sugarcane price.
The farmers’ organization pledged to continue raising its voice for farmers’ rights and vowed not to remain silent until their demands are met. “If needed, we will launch a larger movement,” Malik declared.
The panchayat was chaired by Rajbir and moderated by Amrendra Sharma. Among those present were District President Kaluram Hilwadi, Youth District President Deepak Sharma, Pradeep Malik, Jai Kumar Pradhan, Naveen, Pawan Poonia, Ajay Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Mukesh, Mahesh, Parvez, and Saleem.
The gathering underscored the growing unrest among farmers over delayed payments, unfulfilled promises, and policies they say fail to address their basic needs.
