Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Officials announced that they caught an excise sub-inspector and three others for stealing about Rs 6 lakh worth of molasses from the Farmers’ Cooperative Sugar Mill, reported The Times of India.
The manager of the sugar mill, Raj Kumar Mittal, noticed an unusual increase in molasses sales, from two or three tankers per day to 10-12 tankers.
An investigation found that the theft happened with the help of the excise sub-inspector, a clerk, and two other employees. The manager and other mill officials caught the excise sub-inspector Arvind Singh and clerk Shivkumar in the act. The other two involved were identified as Chandra Bhan and Babu Ram.
Sagar Jain, SP (Rural), said that besides charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the accused face charges of cheating (IPC Section 420) and criminal conspiracy (IPC Section 120). The case was filed at Sarsawa police station, and the investigation is ongoing.
