Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers in the district have received some relief with the news that the Gadaura sugar mill is set to reopen soon. The region in the Terai area sees sugarcane farming a key source of income for local farmers. However, with the sugar mill being shut for the past two years, farmers had to travel long distances to supply their sugarcane. Now, the reopening of the mill will ease their burden.
Sugar mill official said that efforts are in full swing to restart operations by November 10 to 15. Once the mill resumes, around 25,000 farmer families will benefit, as they will no longer need to transport their sugarcane to distant places for processing. The mill has been closed for the past two years due to certain reasons, and now the process to restart it is now well underway.
Pradeep Kumar Gupta, general manager of the mill, said about 700 direct and indirect employment opportunities are going to be created with the reopening. He also termed the mill free from liabilities and the subsequent smoothness in its operations. News of the reopening brings joy to all workers who have been longing to get their mills reopened, reported Local18.
