Uttar Pradesh: MLA Baburam Paswan urges CM Yogi Adityanath for sugar mill’s modernization

Puranpur: MLA Baburam Paswan met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday in Lucknow and urged the modernization of the Puranpur sugar mill and Sugarcane Farmer Postgraduate College be included in the grant list, reported Amar Ujala.

Paswan was accompanied by the college principal, Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sharma, during the meeting. The MLA emphasized that the daily crushing capacity of the Puranpur sugar mill is limited to just 25,000 quintals, which falls short of the region’s sugarcane production. As a result, a significant portion of the crop is being diverted to other mills. He noted that the mill is in a deteriorated condition and is currently unable to operate even at its existing capacity.

Both the MLA and the principal appealed to the Chief Minister to approve the inclusion of the Sugarcane Growers Postgraduate College in the government’s grant list. Dr. Sharma informed the Chief Minister that the college has already started offering B.Sc. Agriculture classes. He added that while earlier, funds for the college were collected through deductions from sugarcane farmers, this practice has been discontinued for several years, leaving the institution in need of financial support.

Dr. Sharma stated that the Chief Minister assured him that funding for the college would be arranged soon. MLA Paswan also said the Chief Minister gave a positive response and promised solutions to all the issues presented.
