Munderwa: The Munderwa Sugar Mill crushed a total of 46.55 lakh quintals of sugarcane in the 2024-25 crushing season, marking an increase of 35,000 quintals compared to the previous year. However, the mill lags behind the district’s other two sugar mills in terms of farmer payments, reported Amar Ujala.
Mill officials attributed the delay in payments to a lower sugarcane recovery rate this season. Chief Chemist Sandeep Khare reported that the sugar recovery rate stood at 9.71% this year, down from 10.02% in the 2023-24 season. Despite this, the mill has produced 4.51 lakh quintals of sugar so far.
The crushing season concluded on March 25, 2024, with the mill processing 46,55,614 quintals of sugarcane. Mill General Manager Mahendra Kumar Shrivastava stated that the facility also generated 47,500 megawatts of electricity this season, up from 43,156 megawatts in the previous year.
