Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Three sugar mills in the district owe sugarcane farmers a total of Rs. 239 crore. Despite repeated visits to the mills and the concerned departments, farmers claim that they are yet to receive their payments.
In response, the Sugarcane Department has issued notices to Kesar sugar mill in Baheri, Oswal sugar mill in Nawabganj, and Semikhera sugar mill. The department has also written to the Cane Commissioner requesting the issuance of RC to recover the dues.
According to officials, Kesar sugar mill in Baheri owes Rs. 175 crore, Oswal sugar mill in Nawabganj owes Rs.59 crore, and Semikhera sugar mill owes Rs. 5 crore to farmers, reported Amar Ujala.
District Sugarcane Officer Yashpal Singh said that notices have been issued to all three mills. Correspondence has also been made with the Sugarcane Commissioner for RC.
