Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills asked to address issues of sugarcane farmers

Basti, Uttar Pradesh: The Deputy Cane Commissioner of Eastern Central Region, Lucknow, has formed an inspection team to swiftly address the issues faced by sugarcane farmers and examine the weighing of sugarcane at procurement centers, reported Amar Ujala.

On Tuesday, Assistant Cane Commissioner Gorakhpur, Neelu Singh, conducted inspections of several sugarcane procurement centers in the district along with the inspection team. During the visit, directives were issued to sugar mills to expedite the resolution of farmers’ problems.

Under the guidance of the Deputy Cane Commissioner of Eastern Central Region, Lucknow, a three-member inspection team was constituted for the examination of procurement centers. Neelu Singh, along with the inspection team, inspected the procurement centers of Babhnan Sugar Mill in Harraiya, Vikramjot in Roja Village by sugar Mill, Keshavpur by Sugar Mill Masaudha, and Rudhauli Sugar Mill Gate.

Some centers were found to have open spaces next to the scales. Immediate orders were given to close them. Farmers were directed to affix reflectors on tractors and trolleys standing for weighing sugarcane. Singh urged farmers to report any issues to the officials’ mobile numbers, promising strict action upon the proper verification of complaints.
