Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills in the district are expected to begin cane-crushing operations around Diwali, likely starting between the last week of October and the first week of November. Reports indicate that over 80% of repair work at these mills has been completed, and preparations are underway to set up purchase centers in rural areas.
The cane department is taking steps to ensure a smooth supply of sugarcane for the 2024-25 season. Efforts are in full swing to ensure that the mills start the crushing season on schedule, with officials closely monitoring the ongoing preparations.
To address any issues in the cane supply process, the cane department has organized events at the village level and with cooperative cane development committees. Errors in survey data have been corrected during these events, and the sugarcane calendar for farmers will be available online by October 15.
As per news report by Amar Ujala, District Cane Officer P.N. Singh stated that in the upcoming sugarcane crushing season, the sugar mills will operate on time. Sugar mills in the district are set to commence operations in between last week of October and the first week of November.
