Lucknow: Agricultural operations including sugar mills crushing were carried out without any hurdles during a coronavirus-induced lockdown, said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
He spoke after assessing the agricultural activities being carried out in the state during the pandemic period and the relaxations of the restrictions given by the government to carry out these activities.
In this season, sugar mills in UP crushed 1,118.02 lakh MT of sugarcane and produced 126.36 lakh MT sugar.
In a video conference on Agriculture Infrastructure Fund with Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, CM said lockdown could have impacted the supply chain and harvesting but the state government took adequate measures to prevent such a possibility
Speaking about sugar mills operation, he said, “Sugarcane is the most important cash crop in Uttar Pradesh and all 119 sugar mills of the state were run at full capacity.”
