Lucknow: To meet the need for sanitizer during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the sugar mills in UP have produced 2 crore litres of Sanitizer till May 25.
According to the news report published in Thetimesofindia.com, Sanjay Bhoosreddy, additional chief secretary (sugarcane development) said 97 sugar mills and small units had been manufacturing sanitizer, setting a record in production.
“The sugar mills and other units are producing 6 lakh litres of sanitizer daily as against their capacity of producing 6.5 lakh litres. The sanitizer produced is more than sufficient for the state and is supplied to other states,” he said.
“This has helped in sanitizing more than 5000 villages and 4000 public offices. We are using sanitizer in villages to help break the chain of virus”, he said.
According to the data provided by the department, the sanitizer produced by sugar mills has helped in sanitizing 4952 villages, 527 towns and 4489 public offices.
