New Delhi: Sugar millers in Uttar Pradesh are against the hike in the State Advisory Price (SAP) as the decline in the recovery rate has increased the production cost of the sugar. UP Sugar Mills Association (UPSMA) has written to chief minister Yogi Adityanath requesting him not to increase the SAP in the current season.
According to the media report, Deepak Guptara, secretary, UPSMA said, “Mills are not even able to recover the cost of sugar production. The lower could impact the cost of sugar production. Increase in SAP will increase the mill burden.”
The industry experts say that decrease in sugar recovery rate is due to damages incurred to the crop following untimely rains and occurrence of red rot disease mainly in east UP.
