Meerut: The administration has issued notices to three sugar mills in Meerut over pending arrears. These include two mills from Mawana group and one from Kinauni group.
Dushyant Kumar, district cane officer, said, “We have issued notices to these mills after they failed to clear pending arrears of farmers after a repeated appeal from the government. Stern action will be taken against them if they fail to clear can arrears”.
Issuing warning against the defaulter sugar mills, UP government had set a deadline of October 31 to pay all the arrears of sugarcane farmers. But mills failed to clear it. Commissioner, Sugar and Cane, Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy had also issued a stern direction to sugar mills to clear all cane dues before starting the crushing season.
