Kanpur: UP minister for Sugarcane Development & Sugar Industries Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary asked sugar mills to protect the interest of sugarcane farmers and other stakeholders.
He was speaking at a National Seminar organized on ‘Modelling of Indian Sugar Industry in Diversification Era’ organized jointly by the National Sugar Institute, Kanpur, and UP Sugar Mills Association.
Addressing the gathering he complimented the sugar industry for contributing the highest quantities of ethanol for blending and advised the millers to protect the interest of sugarcane farmers and stakeholders.
During the seminar, Pankaj Rastogi, CEO, of Dalmia Bharat Sugars Limited shared his experiences about how the Brazilian model works on sugar and ethanol production.
In his address, he called upon the sugar industry to come forward to take advantage of government incentives to convert sugar factories into complexes with thrust on ethanol production to improve their financial viability.
