Kashipur, Uttarakhand: Manjeet Singh officially assumed his role as Co-Chairman of the State Sugarcane Development Advisory Committee (with the rank of Minister of State) on Wednesday. He announced that expanding the area under sugarcane cultivation across the state will be his top priority, reported Live Hindustan.
The ceremony took place at the office of the Commissioner of Sugarcane and Sugar Industry, where Additional Commissioner of Sugarcane Chandar Singh Imlal, BJP District President Manoj Pal, and former State Minister Rajesh Kumar were present.
During a meeting with officials, Singh emphasized the urgent need to increase the area under sugarcane cultivation, which has declined in recent years. “Our first priority is to bring back and expand the reduced sugarcane-growing area,” he said. “This will require collective efforts from everyone involved.” He also highlighted the importance of developing better sugarcane varieties to improve crop yield.
BJP leader Rajesh Kumar expressed confidence that this change in leadership would bring more effective work in the interest of farmers.
