Laksar: Farmers in Uttarakhand held a meeting in the village of Shekhupur on Tuesday to express their anger over the government’s delay in announcing the sugarcane price, reported Live Hindustan.
The farmers said that the cost of cultivating sugarcane is increasing, but the government is not raising the sugarcane price. They demanded that the sugarcane price to be increased to ₹600 per quintal.
Mahkar Singh, the district president of the Uttarakhand Kisan Morcha, a farmers’ organization, said that the government should announce the sugarcane price as soon as possible. He warned that if the government does not increase the sugarcane price, farmers will be forced to launch a protest.
