Roorki: Sugarcane farmers have threatened to launch an agitation if the sugar mills delay in clearing their cane dues, reports Live Hindustan.
Farmers under the banner of BKU (Tomar) have stated that more than two months have passed since the closure of the mills after completing the crushing season but the mills have not yet cleared their dues.
Bikesh Baliyan, district unit head of the organization said, “Farmers are facing financial crisis due to delay in cane payments. They are not able to meet their day-to-day needs and are facing problems in paying school fees for their children and meeting other expenses.”
“If sugar mills fail to clear cane dues then we will launch agitation against the mills for the same,” he said.
