Kashipur, Uttarakhand: The state government has released the sugarcane allotment and supply policy for the 2024-25 crushing season to benefit sugarcane farmers, reported Jagran. The policy prioritizes the welfare of sugarcane farmers, aiming to provide them with various concessions and facilities.
Under the new policy, sugarcane farmers will receive payments for their cane via online and RTGS transactions within 14 days from the sugar mills. According to a notice from the office of the Sugarcane Commissioner, for the first time, new farmer members of sugarcane committees will receive benefits based on the average cane supply of the respective sugar mill or the cane productivity of the district for the 2023-24 crushing season, whichever is higher, up to a limit of 65 per cent.
As per media report, for the 2024-25 crushing season, the total cane area is 90,365 hectares, with 257,000 registered members in sugarcane committees across the state. These members supply cane to eight sugar mills through 14 cooperative sugarcane development committees and one sugar mill committee.
