New Delhi: BJP MP Varun Gandhi has urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to increase the sugarcane purchase price.
Sharing his letter on the microblogging platform Twitter, he demanded that the UP government should increase the sugarcane price to Rs 400 per quintal to help farmers that are in distress.
Gandhi who represents the Pilibhit LS constituency had last week also supported the farmers’ agitation.

In his tweet, he further added, “I hope issues of the sons of the soil will be heard.”
Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that we will work to make sure timely payments are made as well as to increase the price of sugarcane. In the last few years, there has been no hike in the cane price in the state.
