Hanoi: The Ministry of Industry and Trade has published plans for the distribution of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024. Decision No. 2226 specifies that, under auctions scheduled for September, there will be 126,000 tons of sugar to be assigned under HS code 17.01, reports Viet Nam News.
At the same time, Decision No. 2227/QD-BCT has approved the establishment of an eight-member council which will undertake the entire process related to the auction. He will assume the duties of chairman in this council. Trần Thanh Hải, Vice Director of the Import-Export Department under the MoIT, shall assume the position of Vice-Chairman.
It will be further supplemented by representatives of different departments and customs offices under the MoIT, members of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the General Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance.
To implement these decisions properly, MoIT shall coordinate with relevant ministries and sectors to facilitate the allocation process for sugar import tariff quotas in 2024.
