Considering the shortage of oxygen to treat the Covid infected patients, the sugar mills in the state have been asked to focus on its production.
Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) has urged the sugar mills to initiate work on oxygen production.
Shivajirao Deshmukh, director-general of VSI has written letters to the sugar mills in the state directing them to take up the process of oxygen production required for the medical sector.
Addressing the millers, he said that the country is facing a severe shortage of oxygen required to treat Covid-19 patients. Sugar mills in the state have always helped people during the crisis and considering this president of the VSI, Sharad Pawar, has urged sugar mills to take up steps to produce oxygen.
Sugar mills have always been at the forefront in the fight against Covid-19. When there was a shortage of sanitiser, which is very useful to keep infections at bay, then sugar mills came to the rescue and produced it.
