In Amroha district, sugar mills are failing to make timely payments to farmers for the sugarcane they have supplied. Taking note of this, the Cane Department has issued notices to four sugar mills. The mills have been warned of possible FIRs if payment issues are not resolved promptly, reported Amar Ujala.
In total, there are nine sugar mills in the district that purchase sugarcane from farmers, including three in Amroha and six in neighboring districts. However, few mills have delayed in making payments to the farmers.
Mills have failed to make payments within the stipulated 14-day period. Manoj Kumar, the District Cane Officer (DCO), stated that notices have been issued to the four mills, giving them three days to make the necessary payments. He further emphasized that failure to comply with the deadline would result in FIRs being filed against the mills.
Farmers have expressed frustration over the delay, which has put a financial burden on them. The Cane Department is closely monitoring the situation to ensure that farmers receive their dues without further delays.
